2017 SUMMER CLASS FOR CREDIT REGISTRATION
Eligibility
Students entering grades 8-12 both in and out of our school system are eligible. Preference will be given to current SMCS students.
Cost
$395(additional $75 fee for photography/fine arts)
Sign-up/Payment Plan
Must sign up and pay through Greater Giving. Payment is refundable up until May 19, 2017. There must be a minimum of four students registered by May 31 in order to run the class.
Absences
Students may have a maximum of one excused absence with work made up. There will be no exceptions to this policy and no refunds.

A digital camera is required. A DSLR is preferred; however, any good quality digital camera may be used. Students will become familiar with the equipment and techniques of the photographer and will learn to think like an artist while using this 21st Century tool. Indoor and outdoor photographing will take place most days. There may be classes where we will meet off-campus for the entire period to take photos at a nearby park for more variety of images. The students will have access to Photoshop to edit all their photos. We will also print the highest quality photos taken during the four week session to create a photography portfolio for each student.
Optional Materials: Tripod (highly recommended) and remote shutter

Personal Finance is intended to prepare students for the challenges of keeping up with the rising cost of living by becoming informed consumers. Topics covered include an understanding of the consumer’s role in the economy, money management, personal banking skills, credit, insurance and the practices and problems related to the buying of such goods and services such as clothing, food, transportation, shelter and health care. Additional topics include: money management, tax preparation, family/individual budgeting, writing checks, balancing checkbooks, and general banking needs.

This course consists of work in drawing, design, and work in Adobe Suite. Students will experience real-life assignments. Students will work predominantly in Photoshop, Illustrator, & InDesign. The students will also have the opportunity to submit work to local businesses for jobs they have to offer, such as advertisement/poster design.
